Work Safe Procedure

Recruitment checks, worker briefing, site safety, stop-work rights and accident reporting.

1. Purpose

The purpose of this Work Safe Procedure is to ensure that all employees carry out their duties safely and that workers supplied to clients are only placed into roles for which they are competent, suitably qualified and medically fit where required.

2. Scope

This procedure applies to all employees of the Company involved in recruiting, placing and managing construction personnel.

3. Responsibilities

Company Directors

Ensure adequate health and safety arrangements are in place.

Provide sufficient resources to implement this procedure.

Review the procedure annually.

Recruitment Staff

Verify the identity of all candidates.

Confirm Right to Work in the UK.

Verify CSCS cards and other required qualifications.

Obtain employment references where required.

Ensure workers understand client requirements before starting work.

4. Recruitment Checks

Before any worker is supplied, the Company will:

Verify photographic identification.

Confirm the worker's Right to Work.

Check relevant CSCS, CPCS, NPORS or other competency cards where applicable.

Confirm previous construction experience.

Record emergency contact details.

Maintain recruitment records in accordance with data protection legislation.

5. Client Information

Before supplying workers, the Company will obtain:

A job description.

Details of the work to be undertaken.

Required qualifications and experience.

Site location and contact details.

Working hours.

PPE requirements.

Health and safety information relevant to the role.

6. Worker Briefing

Before attending site, workers will be informed of:

Site location and reporting arrangements.

Working hours.

Required PPE.

Site rules.

Drug and alcohol requirements.

Expected standards of behaviour.

Accident reporting procedures.

7. Site Safety

Workers supplied by the Company must:

Follow all client health and safety rules.

Attend site inductions.

Wear the required PPE.

Use equipment only if trained and authorised.

Report hazards, near misses and accidents immediately.

Stop work and notify the site supervisor if they believe work is unsafe.

8. Right to Stop Unsafe Work

No employee or supplied worker will be required to carry out work they reasonably believe presents a serious and immediate danger.

Workers should:

Stop work safely.

Inform the site supervisor immediately.

Notify the Company as soon as possible.

Await further instruction before resuming work.

No employee or worker will be disadvantaged for raising genuine safety concerns.

9. Accidents and Incidents

Any accident, injury, dangerous occurrence or near miss must be reported immediately to:

The client site supervisor.

The Company.

The Company will investigate incidents where appropriate and maintain records in accordance with legal requirements.

10. Review

This procedure will be reviewed annually or following any significant change in legislation, client requirements or business operations.
